Nourimane Medici is a young Tunisian-Italian blood weaver. She was born in Tunisia from Nadia Medici and Karim Izem, who were in an illegitimate relationship and running from House Medici.

Nour was hunted by the Medici and found sanctuary in a small convent in Italy until her weaving potential was discovered and she received protection from the Continental Academy.

Biography

In 1995, Nadia Medici visited Tunisia to research some blood weaving traditions of a remote village to the south, in the desert. She resented her family for sending her to such a place, where the strangling heat made living unbearable. She had grown to hate their ways, their strict rules, their obsession with power, but most of all their prohibition to reproduce or have intercourse without the family head’s permission. All of these traditional customs contrasted with the new cultural climate she was raised in and she found them unacceptable. In Tunisia she was finally away from her family and did not hesitate to let forbidden passions sweep her away. The man who was hired to escort her through the country, Karim Izem, was no brief infatuation. After what she described as the best month of her life, Nadia continued their relationship even after coming back to Italy while keeping it a secret from House Medici.

On the Christmas Eve of 1999, Nadia became pregnant. She dreaded what her family would do if they found out about the pregnancy and her relationship. However, she had decided long ago that she would never allow the Medici to marry her off to some stranger or force her to give them a child who could pass down their traditional techniques. She and Karim decided to run away and allow their child to live a peaceful and free life. On August 18th of the year 2000, Nour was born but the Medici quickly found out. Nadia left her newborn daughter in the care of a convent in a remote village and tried to negotiate her freedom with the Medici. After refusing to give them the child, she and Karim were both executed for leaking the family’s genetic code.

Nour was raised by nuns, she went to the small school of her village, and had lots of friends during childhood. By the age of six she began showing the first signs of her family’s heritage, her technique activated accidentally several times. They then discovered that she was a calamity, a special grade of weaver only five of which could exist at the same time. The nuns realized the Medici would soon find them, so they asked the Continental Academy to recognize her potential and grant her their protection. Then, at the age of fourteen, she was sent to the Academy to study the art of weaving.

The Continental Academy was full of kids from privileged families with traditional techniques. Few rare outliers, who did not have a heritage, were marginalized by the other students. Nour faced the same fate for disgracing her heritage and family, something other students envied. House Medici continued targeting her despite the protection granted to her by the Continental Academy. They knew about her being a calamity and, instead of executing her, they wanted to make her rejoin the family. Nour kept refusing until they tried to force her and were met with a brutal defeat.

After graduating from the Academy, Nour joined the Weaving Association to become an exterminator. Her combat-oriented technique and calamity status immediately granted her a position. The job was not was she imagined and she quickly grew tired of it, though good money came from it.

In 2022 she was involved in the Mormo incident, when the Incarnation of Sacrifice was freed from the corridors of the Continental Academy and began unleashing chaos.

Stats

Nour’s body is average sized and athletic. She is well trained in martial arts and blood weaving and has a great understanding of all the mechanics of her technique.

Her technique gives her a privileged position in most areas of combat: she can shock just by touching, making every hit much more powerful and preventing enemies from hitting her barehanded; she has a long range attack that cannot miss; and her prescience makes her impossible to defeat. Her overwhelming abilities have remained unchallenged, placing her at the top of the hierarchy in the world of blood weaving.

Polarity technique

Nour’s technique, Polarity, can produce, store, and manipulate electric charge within her body. Nourimane’s body is constantly producing electricity by consuming blood at a lower rate than it produces it.

First style, Electrification: Nour can release the charge stored in her body, which enhances her muscles and brain and speeds up her heartbeat, therefore amplifying any weaving ability. When touching another person, they will receive an electric shock that will immobilize their body, possibly taking them out or even killing them. Even after the shock is over, they will be weakened and will have trouble moving and weaving blood.
Second style, Lightning: After marking a target with electric charges, she can release a high amount of electricity and produce a lightning that strikes its target nearly instantly without ever missing. The total amount of charge Nour can store in her body is the equivalent of 2.5 lightnings.

Zenith: Settimo Cielo (Ninth Cloud)

Summons a thick heavy cloud above Nour that is subjected to her birthright. It contains an extremely high amount of charge that she can use to unleash as many lightnings as she wishes and replenish her own charge. She can also manipulate clouds, using them to fly or hide.

Fate: Prescient Gaze

The blood trait of the Calamity of Fate, Prescient Gaze allows its user to see all possible perceivable futures branching from the present. The large amount of information to be processed takes a heavy toll on the user’s brain, which needs to be enhanced with the Cognitive Simple Technique, while Nourimane can also use her electricity to boost it.

Knowing the outcomes of any action allows the user to consciously make decisions that will shape their own future, thus controlling it to an extent relative to their potential. Nourimane meditates in the early morning to predict all the events of the coming day.

When multiple people try to see the same moment in the future, their influence over that future moment (empowered by the awareness of the future itself) will blur the image and make that moment impossible to predict. Two diviners can clash, even if at different points in time, to predict the same future moment and whoever prevails will keep the information.

Origins of the technique

The Polarity Technique was developed in 1569 by an man known only by the name Edoardo. He was obsessed with making blood weaving as efficient as possible, and aspired to create a technique that would unleash high amounts of energy by using as little blood as possible. He created the foundation of the technique, the automatic production of electric charge within the user’s body, as well as immunity to electricity. He was only able to develop a primitive version of the technique’s First style before dying. His project was then continued by his son, who completed the first style, and by his granddaughter, who designed the Second style. His granddaughter was then married to a member of the Medici family in 1602, and the technique was lost in the bloodline until it was awakened again by Nourimane Mo.
