Arch Corporation (often shortened to ArchCorp or just Arch) is the largest and richest corporation in the Solar System, mainly focusing on technology (especially cybernetics) and eugenic engineering. It’s based in the United Earth[^1], accounting for 55% of its GDP.
It was founded in 2945 by Jacob Arch, the grandfather of the current CEO Jackson Arch Jr., who has held the position since his father’s passing in 3012.
History
In the 2940s, Earth’s economy was thriving and several corporations benefitted from the state’s growing influence. Large multiplanetary companies already existed before then, but they were few in number and still relied heavily on the domestic market for their profits and for the periphery to import resources. After the 40s, however, they significantly expanded their market to other planets and moons and began growing rapidly.
The main winner of this period of economic growth was the Arch Corporation, specializing in technology and weaponry. Weaponry in particular is what helped them grow the most, as the tensions between Earth and Mars were rising at the time. In the second half of the 30th century, Arch established itself as the largest and most advanced tech company, producing all kinds of technological devices, funding new studies and projects; but, most importantly, being the main military contractor for Earth’s military.
